The Latest From The CIS & Russian Desk Legal Blog-Turkey will not impose sanctions on Russia

The Turkish government does not plan to impose sanctions on Russia (even if asked by the US or the EU), and Russian-Turkish relations are not affected by external forces, according to the Turkish Ambassador to Moscow Umit Yardym.

"While I was working in Iran I realized that sanctions are not the method to achieve one's political goals. Turkey's position is to follow the decisions made by the United Nations. This is true not only for Turkey, but for all UN member states," he said. "I do not see Russian-Turkish relations in the context of these sanctions," the ambassador said.
